DIY Grinch Bath Bomb Recipe

Bath bombs are the bomb, but they are often pricey. And why spend a lot of money on something  you can make at home?

These festive Grinch Bath Bombs make the ideal stocking stuffers and are an incredible DIY project!

Instructions

In a large bowl, combine dry ingredients: citric acid, Epsom salt, baking soda, cornstarch, and matcha green tea powder.

In a medium bowl, liberally add essential oil in drops to the coconut oil.

Slowly add the liquid ingredients to the dry ingredients, continually stirring the mixture until well combined (you want the mixture to feel like you could make a sandcastle with it — and the salts should clump together in your hand).

Note that whether or not you need to add water will depend on your climate. If necessary, add witch hazel or tea tree oil one spritz at a time until you reach the desired consistency.

A word of caution: Take care when adding liquids. If the mixture gets too wet, it may activate and begin to fizz.

We used stainless steel bath bomb molds purchased from our favorite craft store, but they’re also available on Amazon. The great thing about the stainless steel molds is that they won’t dent, and you can use them again and again. You could also use plastic Christmas ornaments as molds, which make great stocking stuffers.

Add a single heart sprinkle to one side of the mold and tightly pack in the mixture until you can skim the surface flat using a ruler or your hand. It may take some wiggling to get the molds to fit tightly together. Work your molds so they are not too full or not full enough. Both flat sides of the bath bombs should sit flush together (we taped our molds together to keep them from accidentally popping open).

Allow the bath bombs to sit overnight. Since we’re in Atlanta, we had to let ours sit a tad longer to let them fully cure.

Once ready, gently tap around the outside of the mold lightly with a spoon, and your Grinch Bath Bomb will pop right out.

Happy gifting!
